After 25 years of bringing spectacular ballet performances to the stage, Pam Rossi - Artistic Director for Moorpark Civic Ballet and Dance Theater, will be retiring. Ms. Rossi’s elite dance background includes the hugely popular TV series “Solid Gold”. She was regularly featured dancer in 1980, where she remained for 6 consecutive years until the show ended at the end of the 1986 season. She started her dance career in her mothers dance studio in San Luis Obispo at the young age of 12, and the rest is history. Ms. Rossi’s talents and love for her community have brought out some of the best ballet performances, including “Peter and the Wolf” and the annual holiday classic, “The Nutcracker”.

Ms. Rossi is happy to pass on her legacy to the next generation of her Moorpark Civic Ballet Family.

Our new chapter begins…

Val Manchin grew up in San Luis Obispo and began dancing with Pam Rossi’s mom, Pat Jackson, at Pat Jackson’s American Dance at age of 4. She started her strong ballet training on the Central Coast with The Gilbert Reed Ballet Company. At the age of 10 she was part of the youth ballet until she was 16. Then she was part of the professional company. Ms. Manchin was a principal dancer in Carmen, Firebird, Othello, Peter and the Wolf and A Christmas Carol. She moved to Los Angeles to pursue her professional career at The Edge Performing Arts Centers.

She then began her teaching career at Pam Rossi’s Dance Ten where she continues today. She also teaches at TAPS - Theatre Arts Preparatory School in Las Vegas and has traveled across the U.S. as a master teacher and choreographer.

She has been choreographing for Moorpark Civic Ballet for over 20 years and has been the Assistant Director for the past 10. She is excited and honored to now be the new Artistic Director of the Moorpark Civic Ballet Company.
